Gaza: Airstrikes and Artillery Shelling on Various Areas and Demolition of Houses in Khan Younis

SadaNews - The Gaza Strip witnessed a new field escalation on Wednesday, represented by airstrikes, artillery shelling, and heavy gunfire, in addition to the demolition of residential buildings in various areas of the sector.

The Israeli army continued its violations of the ceasefire agreement that went into effect on October 10, 2025, guaranteed by the United States, with the number of violations reaching 1,620, resulting in the martyrdom of 573 Palestinians and injuring more than 1,500 others.

A low-flying Israeli warplane was recorded over the city of Gaza, coinciding with intensive artillery shelling targeting the eastern areas, including the Al-Tuffah neighborhood.

In the southern sector, the air force launched an airstrike on the eastern areas of Khan Younis, while military vehicles unleashed heavy fire in the city center and carried out demolitions of residential buildings.

Medical sources in Gaza hospitals reported the martyrdom of 5 displaced individuals and the injury of 13 others on Tuesday, outside the areas of Israeli military deployment.

In its turn, Hamas considered the escalation to be an "unprecedented violation" of the ceasefire agreement, accusing the occupation of deliberately undermining efforts to stabilize calm, describing the previous night as "bloody" due to the targeting of civilian homes, according to its spokesperson Hazem Qassem.

The United Nations warned of the significant risks faced by civilians due to airstrikes and artillery and naval bombardments, emphasizing the necessity of respecting international humanitarian law and taking utmost precautions to protect civilians and infrastructure.

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs also renewed its call to lift the restrictions imposed on humanitarian work and to facilitate the unobstructed access of aid and essential equipment.

In this context, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) announced the reopening of the Al-Bureij Health Center in Deir al-Balah and the resumption of primary healthcare, maternal health services, laboratory tests, and dental care after several months of closure. However, UN spokesperson Stefan Dujarric indicated that thousands of patients are still deprived of treatment and essential services in the sector.
