Israel to America: We Will Move Unilaterally Against Iran in This Case

SadaNews - Israel has sent a message to the United States stating that it "may act unilaterally against Iran if necessary," coinciding with negotiations between Washington and Tehran.

According to a report by the Israeli "Jerusalem Post," Israeli military officials recently informed their American counterparts that "the Iranian ballistic missile program poses an existential threat" to Israel, and that "failure to address it may lead to a unilateral military action against Tehran."

Israel is pressuring the United States to launch an attack on Iran or to reach an agreement that includes reducing its missile program, amidst negotiations that Tehran insists only address the nuclear program, not the missile program.

However, according to security sources, Israel has expressed its intentions to dismantle Iranian missile capabilities and its production infrastructure through a series of high-level discussions with the American side over the past few weeks.

Military officials presented operational plans to weaken the Iranian ballistic missile program, including striking key manufacturing sites, according to the "Jerusalem Post."

The source stated: "We informed the Americans that we will strike unilaterally if Iran crosses the red line we set regarding ballistic missiles," adding that "Israel has not yet reached that threshold, but it is constantly monitoring developments inside Iran."

Officials stressed that "Israel retains the freedom to act," and affirmed that it "will not allow Iran to rebuild strategic weapon systems on a scale that threatens Israel's existence."

A defense official described the current situation as a "historical opportunity" to deliver a strong blow to the Iranian missile infrastructure and neutralize threats directed at Israel and neighboring countries, as he put it.

During recent discussions, Israel also presented plans to target additional facilities linked to the missile program, according to the official.

In the same context, a number of Israeli officials expressed concerns that U.S. President Donald Trump may adopt a model of "limited strikes" against Iran, which they fear would leave Iran's vital capabilities intact.

Another military official stated: "The concern is that he may choose some targets, declare success, and leave Israel to face the repercussions, just as he did with the Houthis (in Yemen)," considering that "partial measures will not eliminate the fundamental threat."

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is scheduled to visit Washington for a meeting with Trump on Wednesday, primarily addressing the Iranian file.
