The Israeli Army Announces Completion of the "Inspection Complex" for Passengers from the Rafah Crossing in Recent Days
SadaNews - The Israeli Army announced on Sunday that it has completed the establishment of an inspection complex for those entering from the Rafah crossing, in southern Gaza Strip, which was opened in a trial phase in both directions in the early hours of the same day, under the supervision of representatives from Egypt and the European Union, along with a representative of the coordination and liaison officer in the Israeli army.
The Israeli army stated in a statement that "as part of the preparations for the opening of the Rafah crossing, and under the guidance of the political leadership, the Israeli army forces have completed the establishment of a dedicated inspection point during the past days, which is managed by the (Israeli) security system in the area under the control of the Israeli army."
It added that "this complex is part of the efforts made to enhance security oversight in the area."
It noted that "the security forces are verifying the identities of those entering at the inspection point according to lists approved by the Israeli security establishment, as well as conducting thorough checks of their luggage."
150 people are allowed to exit daily, and only 50 are allowed to enter
The Israeli public broadcasting agency "Kan 11" reported that "up to 200 people will cross daily in both directions, due to the crossing's inability to accommodate larger traffic in its current operational state."
It added that "the ratio of those entering to those exiting will be 1:3; as 50 patients will leave daily, accompanied by two people for each patient."
According to the report, "only 50 people will be allowed to enter from the other side, and the crossing will operate for six hours daily, from 9 AM to 3 PM."
While it was anticipated that members of the technocratic committee would enter Gaza through the crossing on Monday, it indicated that "so far, not all of them will enter tomorrow."
It also pointed out that Israel describes the initial experience of opening the Rafah crossing as "very successful."
The opening of the crossing comes as part of the transition to the second phase of the ceasefire agreement and the plan of U.S. President Donald Trump.
Earlier on Sunday, Egyptian sources reported that elements from the Palestinian security apparatus arrived early in the morning in the city of Al-Arish, in preparation to take over the management of the crossing.
The Gaza Ministry of Health announced on Sunday that approximately 6,000 injured individuals in the sector are in urgent need of evacuation through the Rafah crossing for treatment.
The "Cairo News" channel reported on Sunday that "the trial operation of the Palestinian side of the Rafah crossing has started, and it will officially operate tomorrow, Monday," adding that the transfer of Palestinian patients from Gaza to Egypt will begin on Monday for medical services, noting that "mobile intensive care units from the fleet of the Egyptian Ministry of Health are waiting on the Egyptian side of the Rafah crossing."
