Israel Announces Opening of Rafah Crossing Next Sunday
SadaNews - The office of the so-called Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories announced the opening of the Rafah crossing starting next Sunday.
According to the statement, the crossing will be opened in both directions for limited movement of people only.
Residents will be allowed to exit and enter through the Rafah crossing with coordination with Egypt, after prior security approval for the residents from Israel, and under the supervision of the European Union mission, similar to the mechanism activated in January 2025.
Additionally, residents returning from Egypt to the Gaza Strip will be coordinated with Egypt for those who left Gaza during the war period only, and only after prior security approval from Israel.
The statement added that, in addition to the initial identification and inspection at the Rafah crossing by the European Union mission, additional inspection and identification will be conducted at a point to be operated by Israeli security forces in the area controlled by the Israeli army.
