The European Union Rejects Settler Attacks and Calls for Accountability for Those Responsible
SadaNews - The European Union has firmly rejected the attacks perpetrated by settlers against citizens in the occupied West Bank, emphasizing the necessity of holding those responsible accountable without exception.
This statement was made by the EU representative in Jerusalem, Alexander Schuttsman, during a field tour he conducted in the youth village affiliated with the "Share" forum west of Ramallah, in the presence of several ambassadors from EU countries.
Schuttsman stated that the attacks by Israeli settlers are "unacceptable and must be met with actual measures to prevent their recurrence."
The "youth" village has been subjected to a series of incursions and assaults by settlers, which included theft of facilities, destruction of property, and cutting of electricity wires, in addition to bringing in dogs and waste to drive activists away from the site.
Schuttsman indicated that the European Union has "previously taken steps against settlers involved in violent acts against Palestinians."
He added that the assaults on a village dedicated to serving youth are absolutely unacceptable to the European Union, reaffirming that this issue "will remain under monitoring until the attacks cease and guarantees are in place to prevent their recurrence," stressing the need for "accountability for those responsible."
