70,000 Martyrs During the War.. Occupation Army Acknowledges "Health Ministry's Gaza Count"
SadaNews - The Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported today, Thursday, that the Israeli army "has for the first time adopted the Gaza Health Ministry's count indicating that around 70,000 Palestinians have been killed during the war."
With American support, Israel began a genocide campaign in Gaza in October 2023, lasting two years and resulting in over 71,000 martyrs and more than 171,000 injured, most of whom are children and women.
The occupying army has also destroyed 90% of the civilian infrastructure, with costs estimated by the United Nations at about 7 billion dollars needed for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, where nearly 2.4 million Palestinians live, including 1.5 million displaced persons facing catastrophic conditions.
Haaretz reported yesterday, Wednesday, that the Israeli government has decided to allow the reconstruction of the New Rafah area under its control in southern Gaza in response to an American request. It added that Israel had conditioned the completion of the disarmament of Gaza for the reconstruction of the region, according to the requirements of military officials.
The Israeli newspaper noted, "However, according to new understandings, the reconstruction of Old Gaza will not begin until disarmament is completed, while construction in New Rafah will be allowed simultaneously with Hamas's commitment to disarmament."
Haaretz added, "Nevertheless, military officials say that work in Rafah has not yet started, as donor countries have not specified a funding mechanism."
Hamas has repeatedly called for international pressure on Israel to fulfill the requirements of the ceasefire agreement, particularly starting the reconstruction process.
Israel daily violates the agreement, leading to the martyrdom of 488 Palestinians, while preventing the entry of the agreed quantities of food, medicine, medical supplies, and shelter materials into Gaza.
