Ministry of Social Development Signs Agreement with the World Food Programme to Implement Cash and Food Assistance in 2026

SadaNews - The Ministry of Social Development has signed a cooperation agreement with the World Food Programme (WFP) to implement food and cash assistance programs throughout 2026, as part of its ongoing efforts to support poor families and the most vulnerable groups in Palestine.

The agreement covers the period from the beginning of January to the end of December 2026, and includes the implementation of direct cash support programs, as well as nutrition programs targeted at children and women, contributing to enhancing food security and improving the living conditions of beneficiaries.

According to the agreement, cash assistance will be provided in the West Bank to around 200,000 beneficiaries, valued at 50 shekels for each beneficiary, disbursed according to approved mechanisms and based on the targeting criteria in place at the Ministry of Social Development, in coordination with the World Food Programme.

The agreement also includes support for children suffering from malnutrition, aged between 6 months and 59 months, at a value of 35 dollars for each child, in addition to including pregnant and breastfeeding women within the food and nutrition support programs, aimed at improving the health and nutritional status of these groups.

In the Gaza Strip, the agreement affirmed that assistance is open to all residents of the strip, given the difficult humanitarian conditions, ensuring the expansion of the response and providing the necessary support to affected populations.

The Ministry of Social Development emphasized that this agreement comes as part of strengthening partnerships with international institutions, developing social protection programs, and ensuring that assistance reaches those who deserve it, in line with government priorities to support the resilience of citizens.
