OCHA: Settlers Displaced 100 Palestinian Families in the West Bank Over Two Weeks
SadaNews - The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) stated today, Friday, that Israeli settler attacks in the occupied West Bank have led to the displacement of approximately 100 Palestinian families over the past two weeks.
The office added in a report: "The ongoing attacks, threats, and intimidation by settlers have forced the displacement of more than 100 Palestinian families from 5 communities across the West Bank over the past two weeks."
It explained that the majority of the displaced Palestinian families are from the Bedouin community of "Ras Ain Al-Oja" in the eastern Jericho governorate.
It pointed out that the settlers' attacks have disrupted farmers' access to homes, pastures, and water sources, undermining their sense of security.
It continued: "On January 19, 77 Palestinian families comprising 375 individuals, including 186 children and 91 women, began dismantling their homes and relocating from the Ras Ain Al-Oja area due to the escalation of attacks, threats, and intimidation by Israeli settlers, especially during nighttime hours."
The office noted that "this displacement came after the forcible eviction of 21 families consisting of 110 individuals, including 61 children, on January 8, following a series of settler attacks that included the physical assault of an elderly man, injury caused to him, cutting solar power cables, and plowing private land."
It emphasized that "more than 72,000 families of farmers and herders, nearly two-thirds of all agricultural families, are in urgent need of emergency agricultural assistance."
