Head of Gaza Administration Committee: Rafah crossing will open next week "in both directions"
SadaNews - The head of the Gaza Administration Committee announced today, Thursday, during the launch of the "Peace Council" under the patronage of U.S. President Donald Trump, that the Rafah border crossing between Egypt and the Gaza Strip will be reopened in both directions next week.
Ali Shath said at the World Economic Forum in Davos, "The opening of the Rafah crossing means that Gaza is no longer closed off to the future and the world."
This comes as Israeli security sources emphasized that Tel Aviv has decided not to agree to the opening of the Rafah crossing until the remains of the last Israeli captive held in the Gaza Strip, Ron Arad, are returned.
Shath added, "It is my responsibility to turn this moment into an opportunity to achieve a dignified future for the residents of the Gaza Strip."
He said, "We call on the international community to work with us and to judge us by our actions."
