Trump Sets Off Again for Davos After a "Minor" Failure in His Plane

SadaNews: American President Donald Trump resumed his journey to the Davos Forum late Tuesday to Wednesday, after a "minor" electrical fault forced his presidential plane to return to its airbase.

Trump and his entourage replaced their plane at Joint Base Andrews and took off again shortly after midnight (5 a.m. GMT), about two and a half hours after the initial takeoff.

The White House stated that the American president returned to Joint Base Andrews in Maryland to change Air Force One after the crew discovered a "minor electrical problem" shortly after its departure to the World Economic Forum in Switzerland.

White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt said the decision to return was made after takeoff when the plane's crew discovered a "slight electrical issue," emphasizing that the decision was due to utmost caution.

She added that President Trump would board another plane to continue his journey. Trump was heading to join other world leaders at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

Such incidents involving the safety of air travel for the American president or vice president are rare, but they have occurred before. In 2011, the presidential plane had to abort its landing due to bad weather while transporting former President Barack Obama to an event in Connecticut.

In 2012, the presidential plane struck birds in California while then-Vice President Joe Biden was aboard, before landing without issues.
