The King of Morocco Approves Joining the Peace Council

SadaNews - Moroccan newspapers reported on Monday evening that King Mohammed VI has decided to accept the offer from U.S. President Donald Trump to join the Peace Council.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and African Cooperation and Moroccan expatriates stated that King Mohammed VI, who is the chair of the Jerusalem Committee, received an invitation from Donald Trump, the President of the United States, to join as a founding member of the Peace Council, which the U.S. President intends to launch as an initiative to contribute to peace efforts in the Middle East and adopt a new approach to conflict resolution globally.

The statement mentioned that participation in this council is limited to a small group of prominent leaders internationally engaged for a safe and prosperous future for upcoming generations. This invitation is a recognition of the enlightened leadership of the king, and his status as an indispensable actor in the field of peace. It also reflects the trust he enjoys from the U.S. President and the international community, according to the statement.

The statement added: after praising President Donald Trump's commitment and vision for promoting peace, the king graciously responded positively to this invitation. In this context, the Kingdom of Morocco will work on ratifying the founding charter of this council.

Furthermore, the Peace Council will legally take the form of an international organization aspiring to promote stability, establish governance, and ensure sustainable peace in affected or conflict-threatened areas. The mission of this important structure will be based on practical cooperation, effective action, and partnerships aimed at tangible outcomes. Participation in this council will be exclusively by invitation from the President of the United States.

The Kingdom of Morocco praised the announcement of the launch of the second phase of President Trump's comprehensive peace plan, as well as the formal establishment of the National Committee for Gaza Management as a temporary transitional body.

Morocco, under the leadership of King Mohammed VI, has reaffirmed its steadfast commitment to a fair, comprehensive, and sustainable peace in the Middle East that allows for the establishment of a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, living side by side in peace with Israel. This was stated in the communication.
