France "Does Not Intend to Comply" with Trump's Invitation to the Peace Council
SadaNews - French President Emmanuel Macron's circles reported to the "Agence France-Presse" that Paris "does not intend to comply" with the invitation to join the "Peace Council" proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump, noting that it "raises fundamental questions."
Macron's circles indicated that the "charter" of this initiative "goes beyond the Gaza issue alone," contrary to initial expectations. They stated: "It raises fundamental questions, particularly regarding respect for the principles and structure of the United Nations, which cannot be questioned in any way."
For its part, a Canadian government source said on Monday that Ottawa will not pay to join the "Peace Council" formed by Donald Trump, after Prime Minister Mark Carney hinted that he would accept an invitation from the U.S. President. The source told the Agence France-Presse: "Canada will not pay to obtain a seat on the council, and this has not been requested from Canada at the moment." This comes after a "charter" reviewed by the Agence France-Presse revealed that every candidate country for a permanent seat in this council must pay "more than one billion dollars in cash."
Additionally, two informed sources told Reuters that Israel received an invitation from the United States to join the "Peace Council" chaired by Trump. It is not yet clear whether Israel accepted the invitation.
