The Central Elections Commission Announces the Holding of Local Elections in Deir al-Balah Concurrently with the West Bank
SadaNews - The Central Elections Commission stated, "In light of the decision issued by the Cabinet on 02/12/2025, which sets Saturday, 25/4/2026, as the date for holding elections for local councils in all provinces of the homeland, and given the committee's assessment of the difficulties in conducting local elections across the entire Gaza Strip, the committee, after studying the current circumstances in the Gaza Strip, and in an effort to enhance geographical and political unity between the two parts of the homeland, as well as to ensure citizens' right to participate in the democratic process wherever possible, decided to conduct local elections in the city of Deir al-Balah concurrently with the elections in 420 local bodies in the West Bank."
The committee called in a statement today upon all relevant parties, national and community forces, to provide the necessary support and assistance to ensure the success of the electoral process in the city of Deir al-Balah, reaffirming its full commitment to protecting the citizen's right to choose their representatives.
The committee also expressed hope to be able to complete the democratic path in all local bodies in the Gaza Strip as soon as conditions improve and a suitable environment for holding elections is available.
