Israel Estimates that an American Attack on Iran is Still Possible and Maintains its Readiness
SadaNews - Israel does not rule out the possibility of the United States launching an attack on Iran, estimating that Washington is approaching a critical point regarding whether or not to initiate the attack, and thus maintaining its readiness.
This was reported by Israeli media on Sunday evening, including the Israel Public Broadcasting Corporation (Kan 11) and Channel 12.
According to Kan 11, Israel "is still on high alert for a potential American attack on Iran," pointing to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu having conducted "several security discussions in recent days, including today (Sunday), addressing Iran, among other issues."
The broadcasting agency quoted Israeli sources as saying that "the United States is still considering attacking Iran."
This comes as Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian warned on Sunday that any attack on Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei would be considered a declaration of war.
Channel 12 reported that Israel acknowledges that the United States is nearing a critical point, highlighting the U.S. military's increased pace of troop buildup in the Middle East, a process "expected to be completed within a few days, allowing Washington to carry out a large military operation should such a decision be made."
The Israeli army and security agencies are maintaining a state of high alert, based on the premise that "all options are on the table," and that developments in the coming days could be decisive.
Channel 12 noted that in light of these developments, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is holding security discussions with several ministers and senior security officials as part of preparations for potential scenarios.
Washington Intensifies Troop Buildup
The U.S. military is accelerating its troop buildup in the region, a step expected to be completed in a few days, according to Channel 12's report.
After sending aircraft carriers to the area, fighter jets and refueling aircraft headed to the Middle East.
Transport aircraft equipped with missile defense batteries have also been deployed at U.S. bases in the Gulf, "to protect U.S. bases and assets."
According to the report, "it is expected that strengthening the American air and naval forces will be completed in about five to six days, which will enable Washington to deploy a large-scale force, not just to conduct a targeted attack on Iran."
Israeli Channel 13 quoted high-ranking Israeli officials, stating that "the possibility of confrontation has not been ruled out yet."
The Israeli Army Maintains Readiness for "All Possible Scenarios"
The Israeli army continues to "maintain a very high level of readiness, assuming that all possible scenarios are being considered," as Tel Aviv "recognizes that the United States is looking for the right timing, and the military option is still on the table."
The Israeli army is working to expand its air defense system and improve its offensive capabilities; three new "F-35" fighter jets landed at the Israeli military's Nevatim airbase in the Negev region of the country.
According to the same report, "preparations include a scenario where Israel joins an American action if such a decision is made."
In the context of security coordination between Israel and the United States, the report indicated that the Chief of Staff of the Israeli army, Eyal Zamir, spoke several times last week with the commander of U.S. Central Command, Bradford Cooper.
The discussions between them addressed coordination in preparation for potential developments in the coming days, as the Israeli security system believes that the next few days will be crucial in the decision-making process in Washington.
Israel Receives 3 New F-35 Fighter Jets
In a related context, the Israeli army announced on Sunday the arrival of 3 new "Adir" F-35 American fighter jets at the Nevatim airbase, which will officially enter service within the air force.
The army stated in a press release: "Today, three new Adir (F-35) fighter jets, manufactured by Lockheed Martin, landed at Nevatim airbase, and have been marked with the insignia of the Israeli Air Force."
It mentioned that "the Adir fighter system has been actively participating since the outbreak of the current war (referring to the genocide war on Gaza) in carrying out various defensive and offensive missions on all fronts of combat."
