Al-Shara Announces New Agreement with SDF for Ceasefire.. These are its Terms

SadaNews - Syrian President Ahmad Al-Shara announced on Sunday evening a new agreement with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), aimed at achieving a ceasefire and enhancing state authority in the eastern and northeastern regions of the country, as well as stabilizing security in the conflict areas.

According to the Syrian News Agency, the agreement includes the transfer of all rights to oil fields to the Syrian government, in addition to integrating all members of the Syrian Democratic Forces into the Ministry of Defense. The agreement also stipulates the entry of state institutions into the eastern and northeastern provinces to enhance government administration and expand Damascus's influence in those areas.

Main terms of the agreement:

Ceasefire: A comprehensive and immediate ceasefire on all fronts and contact points between the Syrian government forces and the Syrian Democratic Forces, alongside the withdrawal of all military formations belonging to the SDF to the eastern Euphrates area as a preliminary step for redeployment.

Integration of SDF Elements: Integrating all military and security personnel of the SDF into the structure of the Syrian Ministries of Defense and Interior on an "individual" basis after conducting the necessary security checks, while granting them military ranks and financial and logistical entitlements according to regulations, while maintaining the privacy of Kurdish areas.

Ensuring no remnants of the former regime: The SDF leadership commits to not integrating remnants of the fallen regime into its ranks and to providing lists of former regime officers present in northeastern Syria.

Local Representation: Issuing a presidential decree to appoint a candidate to hold the position of governor of al-Hasakah, as a guarantee for political participation and local representation.

Evacuation of Kobani from heavy military displays: Evacuating the city of "Ain al-Arab / Kobani" from heavy military displays, and forming a security force from the city's residents, while retaining a local police force that is administratively subordinate to the Syrian Ministry of Interior.

Integration of prisoner management and ISIS camps: Integrating the administration responsible for the file of prisoners and the camps of the ISIS organization, in addition to the forces responsible for protecting these facilities, with the Syrian government, so that the government assumes full legal and security responsibility for them.

The Syrian state commits to continue combating terrorism (ISIS) as an active member of the international coalition, with joint coordination with the United States in this framework to ensure the security and stability of the region.

Work towards achieving understandings regarding the safe and dignified return of the residents of the Afrin area and Sheikh Maqsoud to their areas.
