Qatar: We are working with mediators to advance to the second phase of the Gaza agreement
SadaNews - Qatar's Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Majid Al-Ansari, stated that Qatar is working with mediators to push for the transition to the second phase of the Gaza agreement, noting that the complexities on the table today require moving towards the implementation of this phase.
Al-Ansari emphasized in his remarks today, Tuesday, the necessity of not linking the agreement in Gaza to the opening of the Rafah crossing or the entry of humanitarian aid without conditions.
He continued that every day that passes without the entry of aid into Gaza means more casualties.
He added that there are no specific timelines concerning Gaza, pointing out that Qatari communications are ongoing and daily to advance the agreement, and he called on Israel to answer the question: Why is the implementation of the Gaza agreement delayed?
The second phase of U.S. President Donald Trump's plan for a ceasefire in Gaza includes "forming a temporary technocrat committee to manage the sector, addressing reconstruction, forming a peace council, creating an international force, and an additional withdrawal of the Israeli army from the sector, in addition to disarming the Islamist resistance movement (Hamas)."
Regarding the humanitarian situation, the Qatari official said, "The human disaster in Gaza is man-made and continues."
The Gaza agreement concluded a genocide committed by Israel over two years, resulting in over 71,000 Palestinian martyrs and more than 171,000 wounded, and caused massive destruction affecting 90% of civil infrastructure, with reconstruction costs estimated by the United Nations at around 70 billion dollars.
Regarding developments in the region, Al-Ansari affirmed that diplomacy is the effective method for resolving the region's crises, pointing out that Qatar is working on this with its neighbors and partners.
He indicated that Doha is involved in communications aimed at calming the region and resolving disputes between Washington and Tehran, noting that there are expectations that the current tension could lead to escalation in the region and that Qatar is working to de-escalate.
These statements come amid internal protests in Iranian cities for weeks, along with the accompanying escalation in American rhetoric.
