Iraqi: America and Israel have a role in the current unrest in Iran

SadaNews - Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi accused the United States and Israel on Friday of "stirring up the protest movement" which has spread across the country.

At the same time, the minister ruled out the possibility of direct military intervention by the two countries, following American warnings about the consequences of "suppressing the protesters".

Araqchi said during a visit to Lebanon: "This is what the Americans and Israelis have said, that they are directly intervening in the protests in Iran".

He added: "They are trying to turn peaceful protests into divisive and violent protests".

Araqchi continued: "Regarding the possibility of military intervention against Iran, we believe that the likelihood of that is low because their previous attempts have been a disastrous failure".

The Iranian minister's statements come at a time when the country is witnessing widespread protests due to a severe economic crisis, currency devaluation, and rising inflation, amid tight security measures including internet shutdowns and arrests of protesters.

U.S. President Donald Trump had previously warned that the United States could strike Iran "if they killed the protesters".

However, the U.S. ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, ruled out U.S. intervention in what is happening in Iran, stating that the issue is currently open for discussion and "everyone is watching to see what the Iranian people want and what will happen".

Huckabee added that protests in Iran are escalating, and "this is a very important indicator, and we hope that 2026 will be the year to realize the will of the Iranians".

The American diplomat, a strong supporter of Israel, viewed that "any Israeli military action at this time against Iran would be an independent decision that serves its interests".

He clarified that "what Israel will do, and what the United States will do, is a decision made independently by each country".

The spark of the latest protests began with shopkeepers in the grand Bazaar of Tehran due to their frustration over the sharp decline in the value of the local currency, but it has attracted others, mostly young people.
