Trump: We Will Manage Venezuela and Send Our Oil Companies There

SadaNews - On Saturday, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that the United States "will manage Venezuela" following a military operation that resulted in the arrest of its president, Nicolas Maduro.

Trump stated in a press conference that his country would take over the management of Venezuela until a "safe" political transition is secured.

He continued: "We will manage the country until we can make a safe, sound, and reasonable transition."

Trump also threatened that U.S. forces could carry out a second wave of strikes on Venezuela that would be "much larger" if necessary.

On another note, he announced that he would allow American oil companies to head to Venezuela to exploit its vast reserves of crude oil following the military operation.

Trump said: "We will engage the very large American oil companies, the largest in the world, to spend billions of dollars to repair the extremely dilapidated infrastructure, the oil infrastructure, and begin to make money for the country."

However, he noted that the U.S. ban on Venezuelan oil remains in effect.

He mentioned that the Venezuelan president and his wife have been arrested and will be tried in U.S. courts, describing the operation as one of the most successful military operations in U.S. history.

Trump added to reporters at Mar-a-Lago: "This was one of the most stunning and effective and powerful displays in the history of the United States to show how strong and capable the U.S. military is."

He noted that U.S. air, ground, and naval forces participated in the operation.
