Israel "Welcomes" Washington's Attacks on Venezuela and the Arrest of Maduro
SadaNews - Israel "welcomed" the American attacks against Venezuela and the arrest of its president, Nicolas Maduro. Foreign Minister Gidon Saar stated that "Israel welcomes the ousting of the dictator who leads a network of drugs and terrorism, and hopes for a return of democracy to the country and for friendly relations between nations."
Saar noted that "the people of Venezuela deserve to exercise their democratic rights, and South America deserves a future free of the drug and terrorism axis."
He added that "Israel stands by the freedom-loving Venezuelan people, who have suffered under Maduro's illegitimate authoritarian rule."
This comes following the American attacks against Venezuela and the arrest of President Maduro, who, along with his wife, has been referred to New York. This escalation has been condemned by many countries, while others welcomed it. The United Nations expressed its "concern" regarding the escalation and attacks in Venezuela and the disregard for international law during these actions.
This escalation from Washington follows recent attacks in the Caribbean targeting drug smuggling from Venezuela, while a naval blockade and an oil embargo have been imposed along with sanctions on Venezuela.
