Families of Israeli Dead File Huge Compensation Lawsuit Against Palestinian Authority and Hamas
SadaNews Translation - On Thursday, families of Israeli fatalities from Palestinian operations filed a lawsuit against the Palestinian Authority and Hamas, demanding large financial compensation.
According to Channel 7, as translated by SadaNews, the lawsuit amounts to 1.225 billion Israeli shekels and was filed in the Jerusalem District Court by the families of 273 Israelis killed in Palestinian attacks.
The lawsuit is based on a new law regarding compensation for the families of the deceased, which stipulates a compensation of 10 million shekels for the heirs of each person killed and 5 million shekels for any individual injured and left with a permanent disability as a result of those attacks.
The new Israeli law allows the families of the deceased to file significant compensation claims, and this demand joins previous claims totaling 14 billion shekels, submitted for around 2800 dead and injured individuals.
The lawsuit accuses the Palestinian Authority of encouraging and funding what it describes as "terrorist acts" by transferring funds to their perpetrators and their families, thereby providing them with a direct incentive to commit more attacks.
The Israeli channel noted that the relevant Israeli authorities have seized 4.5 billion shekels from the Palestinian Authority's funds so far, following prior court rulings mandating compensation for affected Israelis.
