Israeli Gunfire Targets Land and Livestock in Quneitra Countryside

SadaNews - The Israeli occupation army opened fire today, Thursday, towards agricultural lands in the village of Al-Rafeed in southwestern Quneitra, resulting in the death of several sheep, according to Syrian state media.

The Syrian "Ikhbariya" reported that Israeli forces shot at flocks of sheep in the village adjacent to the ceasefire line, leading to the death of some animals, without mentioning any human casualties.

In the same context, local sources reported that the occupation forces also opened fire at civilians while they were gathering mushrooms around the village, an incident that provoked fear and panic among the residents.

This incident comes amidst recurring tensions in Syrian villages near the separation line in the occupied Golan Heights, where incidents of gunfire and military incursions by the occupation are frequent, especially in areas of Quneitra countryside.

Local residents and Syrian officials confirm that the continued Israeli violations in southern Syria hinder the residents' ability to regain stability and obstruct the government's efforts to attract investments and improve the economic situation in the region.

On an almost daily basis, Israeli occupation forces carry out incursions into Syrian territory, which include arrests of citizens, establishing military checkpoints to search passersby and interrogate them, along with destroying crops and confiscating properties.

The Israeli army continues to carry out airstrikes on sites within Syria, which have often resulted in civilian casualties and the destruction of military sites, vehicles, and weapons belonging to the Syrian army since the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad's regime.

In this context, indirect negotiations are taking place between Damascus and Tel Aviv to reach a security agreement, where Syria conditions the return of Israeli forces to the borders prior to December 8, 2024.
