The Israeli Occupation Army Opens the New Year by Continuing to Violate the Ceasefire Agreement in Gaza
SadaNews - The Israeli army continues to violate the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, where its military vehicles targeted the eastern areas of the Al-Bureij refugee camp in the center of the sector on Thursday.
As the new year begins, the people of Gaza continue to suffer the effects of the tragic war, as Israel persists in breaching the ceasefire agreement and imposing measures that exacerbate the humanitarian crisis, including preventing dozens of humanitarian organizations from operating in the besieged territory.
In the early hours of 2026, the Israeli army committed nine new violations of the ceasefire and calm agreement, which was signed under Arab and American sponsorship in Sharm El-Sheikh and came into effect on October 10, 2025.
The violations included an airstrike by the Israeli air force east of Khan Younis city in the southern sector, along with the occupation’s vehicles firing at the eastern areas of the city.
Gunfire was reported in the northern city of Rafah in the southern sector, alongside airstrikes on the city itself.
Artillery shelling occurred east of the Al-Tuffah neighborhood in eastern Gaza City, coinciding with intensive gunfire from the occupation’s vehicles.
There was shelling of the Shujaiya neighborhood in eastern Gaza City by the air force, with ongoing heavy gunfire from military vehicles.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza reported that 415 civilians have been martyred and 1,152 others injured since the ceasefire agreement came into effect.
It stated that the cumulative statistics of martyrs and injured due to the Israeli aggression since the war began on October 7, 2023, until the end of 2025 have reached 71,269 martyrs and 171,232 injured with varying degrees of injuries, some of which are very serious.
