Guterres: Knesset Decisions Aim to Impede UNRWA Operations
SadaNews - UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres stated that the decisions made by the Israeli Knesset regarding the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) aim to obstruct the agency's operations.
This came in a statement issued by the United Nations spokesperson's office last night.
The statement mentioned that the Secretary-General condemns the amendments made by the Israeli Knesset to the law stopping UNRWA operations issued on December 29, 2025.
He clarified that these amendments "aim to further impede UNRWA's operations and its capacity to carry out its assigned tasks."
He emphasized that the mentioned amendments and decisions contradict UNRWA's status and the framework of international law and must be revoked immediately, stressing that UNRWA is an integral part of the United Nations.
