Israeli Civil Administration Withdraws Additional Authorities from Hebron Municipality Regarding the Ibrahimi Mosque

Translation by SadaNews - The so-called Higher Planning Council in the Israeli Civil Administration approved the withdrawal of additional authorities regarding the management of the Ibrahimi Mosque from the hands of the Palestinian Hebron Municipality.

According to Channel 14, as translated by SadaNews, the powers were transferred to the civil administration with the aim of advancing projects intended to develop the site and issuing the necessary building permits for the roof of the mosque.

Immediately upon the withdrawal of the powers, the committee approved a plan for roofing the Ibrahimi Mosque.

The Civil Administration claimed that requests had been submitted over the years to the Hebron Municipality and the Islamic Waqf regarding roofing the Ibrahimi Mosque, but all of them had been rejected. Therefore, it was decided to withdraw the powers from the municipality and transfer them to the administration, which approved the plan.

The Hebron Settlers Council considered this moment to be "historical justice and an enhancement of the sovereignty of the State of Israel and its rule in Hebron and the Ibrahimi Mosque," expressing gratitude to the Minister of Settlement in the Israeli Ministry of Defense, Bezalel Smotrich, for his support of this step.
