UAE Expresses Regret Over Saudi Arabia's Statement Regarding Its Role in Yemen Events
SadaNews - The United Arab Emirates expresses its deep regret over what was mentioned in the statement of the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the substantial inaccuracies it contained regarding the UAE's role in the ongoing events in the Republic of Yemen.
It firmly rejected being implicated in the tensions among Yemeni parties and denounced the allegations regarding exerting pressure or directing any Yemeni party to carry out military operations that threaten the security of the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia or target its borders.
The United Arab Emirates affirmed its constant commitment to the security and stability of the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, its complete respect for its sovereignty and national security, and its rejection of any actions that may threaten the security of the Kingdom or the region, believing that the fraternal and historical relations between the two countries form a fundamental pillar for regional stability, and the UAE is always keen on full coordination with its brethren in the Kingdom.
The UAE emphasized that its stance since the beginning of the events in the governorates of Hadhramaut and Al-Mahra has been to work on containing the situation, supporting paths to calm, and pushing towards reaching understandings that contribute to maintaining security and stability and protecting civilians, in coordination with its brethren in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Regarding the statement issued by the military spokesperson for the coalition forces concerning the military operation at the port of Mukalla, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the UAE confirms its complete rejection of the claims related to fueling the Yemeni conflict, noting that the aforementioned statement was issued without consultation with the member countries of the coalition.
The ministry affirmed that the mentioned shipment did not include any weapons, and that the vehicles offloaded were not designated for any Yemeni party; instead, they were shipped for use by Emirati forces operating in Yemen, confirming that the allegations circulating about this matter do not reflect the true nature of the shipment or its purpose. The ministry notes that there was high-level coordination concerning these vehicles between the UAE and its brethren in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and an agreement that the vehicles would not leave the port, yet the UAE was surprised by their targeting at the port of Mukalla.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that the Emirati presence in Yemen came at the invitation of the legitimate Yemeni government and within the Arab coalition led by the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, aimed at supporting the restoration of legitimacy and combating terrorism, with a full commitment to respecting the sovereignty of the Republic of Yemen, noting that the UAE has made significant sacrifices since the start of the coalition operations and has supported the Yemeni brotherly people at various stages.
The ministry pointed out that these developments raise legitimate questions about how to deal with them and their implications at a stage that requires the highest degrees of coordination, restraint, and wisdom, while considering the existing security challenges and threats related to terrorist groups, including Al-Qaeda, the Houthis, and the Muslim Brotherhood, within the framework of international efforts to combat terrorism and extremism and to enhance opportunities for calm and stability.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that dealing with the recent developments should be done responsibly and in a way that prevents escalation, based on credible facts and existing coordination between the concerned parties, in a manner that preserves security and stability, safeguards common interests, and contributes to supporting the political solution track and ending the crisis in Yemen.
