Cabinet: Urgent action to support displaced persons in northern West Bank and Gaza and condemnation of occupation violations
SadaNews - Prime Minister Dr. Mohammed Mustafa directed various official institutions, notably the ministerial committee for emergency affairs, to provide what local resources are available or through partner international bodies to better assess the needs of displaced families in northern West Bank, alongside intensifying field visits and preparations by technical teams for economic recovery plans and readiness to handle developments immediately after the withdrawal of occupation forces from the camps.
Moreover, the Cabinet called on the international community and UN organizations during its weekly session today, Tuesday, to take a firm and urgent humanitarian stance to save our people in the Gaza Strip from the harshness of winter and successive weather lows by exerting the utmost pressure to ensure the entry of mobile homes and all necessary shelter supplies.
The Cabinet also urged Arab and Islamic countries to leverage their diplomatic weight and apply pressure on the occupation authorities to stop their escalating violations, primarily the increased demolitions of Palestinian homes, especially in Jerusalem, and to put an end to the crimes of settler gangs against civilians in Palestinian villages and communities.
In this context, the Cabinet condemned the occupation authorities' violation of the UN Charter and the provisions of international law, including international norms and agreements, in light of the Knesset's approval of a decision to cut electricity and water to the offices of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) in Jerusalem, which provides services to more than 110,000 refugees in the district.
Additionally, the Cabinet approved the formation of a Hajj and Umrah Committee for the Hajj season of 1447 AH/2026 AD, comprising four representatives from the Ministry of Awqaf and five representing the Ministries of Interior, Finance, Transport, and Tourism and Antiquities, and the Administrative and Financial Control Bureau (as a observing member). This comes after the government approved the regulations governing Hajj affairs as one of the key reform steps the government is working on within a comprehensive reform plan. The committee will prepare Hajj instructions, approve the terms of agreements and contracts related to transport, accommodation, and other services, and approve financial and administrative instructions for Hajj affairs, including preaching and guidance procedures and recommendations for selecting mission representatives.
The Council also recommended to the President the draft law on settlement courts, especially after their incorporation into the Supreme Judiciary Council, which is expected to expedite procedures in settlement courts and update legislation that has been in place for decades, in line with developments within the justice sector plan to improve legislation that serves the swift resolution of cases and the achievement of justice while easing the burden on our people.
The Cabinet also approved the fee system for land and water settlement courts, which specifies and regulates the fees due for receiving services.
Furthermore, the Cabinet agreed to initiate the necessary procedures for establishing a Palestinian accreditation center that enjoys appropriate independence within the Ministry of Industry, specializing in applying the national policy for the quality infrastructure, which includes granting competency certificates to relevant authorities according to international requirements for recognition of the center.
