SadaNews - The Japanese Ambassador to the State of Palestine, Araiki Katsuhiro, announced a new support package that the Japanese government will provide to the State of Palestine, which includes direct financial support for the budget amounting to $10 million, as part of the supplemental budget for the fiscal year 2025, within the framework of Japan's ongoing commitment to supporting the Palestinian people.
This announcement came during a meeting between Ambassador Katsuhiro and Minister of Finance and Planning, Ishtefan Salameh, at the Ministry of Finance headquarters.
Ambassador Katsuhiro explained that in addition to the $10 million budget support, $30 million will be allocated to finance development projects and capacity-building programs, within a total support package of $167 million, with the remaining amount directed towards humanitarian projects across various governorates, with a particular focus on the Gaza Strip.
This support comes as part of a comprehensive plan to cease fire, enhance the provision of humanitarian and relief services, and support early recovery efforts and reconstruction efforts in the Gaza Strip, in addition to strengthening the efforts to build the institutions of the Palestinian state.
The Japanese package includes funding for a wide range of projects, including support for the public budget, provision of humanitarian aid in the sectors of health, water and sanitation, food security, and waste management, along with support for early recovery programs, including debris removal.
The Japanese ambassador emphasized his country's commitment to continue supporting the Palestinian people amid the difficult conditions they are experiencing and contributing to enhancing stability and sustainable development in Palestine.
For his part, the Minister of Finance and Planning welcomed the Japanese support and the efforts of the Japanese government in enhancing the emergency response to the difficult financial situation amid the continued detention of clearance funds, stressing the deep historical relations between the two countries.
