Injuries in Israeli Airstrikes and New Violations in Southern Lebanon
SadaNews - The Israeli army announced today, Sunday, in two separate statements, that it "attacked two Hezbollah operatives in the Yater area in southern Lebanon," while Lebanese sources reported that an Israeli drone targeted the town of Yater.
Local sources reported that Israeli drones conducted two airstrikes near the town of Yater in southern Lebanon, with the first targeting a vehicle and the second targeting a motorcycle, amid reports of injuries to several individuals.
The sources explained that an Israeli drone targeted a motorcycle in the town of Yater, about 300 meters from the first strike that hit a vehicle, resulting in injuries.
The National News Agency reported that the town of Kafr Shuba was subjected to heavy machine gun fire from Israeli positions in Rweisat al-‘Ilm, causing damage to several homes. Additionally, artillery shells fell in the Bastra farm, causing only property damage.
In a related context, the Israeli army launched an airstrike by drone on Saturday evening targeting the town of Taybeh in the Nabatieh governorate in southern Lebanon, according to the National News Agency, without reporting any casualties.
This strike was preceded by intensive low-altitude flights of Israeli drones over several Lebanese areas, including the southern suburb of the capital Beirut, as well as the airspace over the Zahrani area to the south and the Hermel district in the northeast of the country.
These developments come amid repeated Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement in effect since November 27, 2024, alongside Israeli reports regarding the Israeli army completing preparations for a wide-scale attack on positions affiliated with "Hezbollah," in case Israel deems Lebanon's commitments to dismantling the party's weapons before the end of 2025 unmet.
It is noteworthy that the ceasefire ended an Israeli aggression on Lebanon that began in October 2023, before expanding in September 2024 into a full-scale war that resulted in the martyrdom of around 4,000 individuals and injuries to nearly 17,000, while Israel continues to occupy five Lebanese hills it seized during the last war.
