Report: Israel Ties Decision on "Gaza Plan" to Meeting Between Netanyahu and Trump
SadaNews - Israeli officials reported to Haaretz that Tel Aviv's decision-making on the second phase of the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip is contingent upon an upcoming meeting between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and U.S. President Donald Trump in Florida at the end of this month.
Sources indicated that the Israeli approach for the next phase largely depends on the Trump administration's stance on contentious issues, primarily how to link the withdrawal of Israeli forces with disarming Hamas, in addition to ensuring the destruction of the remaining tunnel network.
Sources added that Trump is expected to present his administration's approach for advancing the plan and the decision-making mechanism during the meeting.
Diplomatic Moves in Miami
In a sign of accelerating diplomatic efforts, U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff revealed a four-way meeting held in Miami on Saturday, which included representatives from the United States, Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey.
Witkoff stated in a statement that the parties discussed "regional integration measures" and supported the establishment of a "Peace Council" as a transitional administration to manage the affairs of the sector.
The statement added that the first phase of the agreement has begun to yield results through increasing humanitarian aid, a partial troop withdrawal, and reducing the intensity of fighting.
