Trump called it successful.. America attacks ISIS targets in Syria with Jordanian participation

SadaNews - The Pentagon announced early today (Saturday) that American fighter jets, attack helicopters, and artillery struck over 70 targets across central Syria on Friday, as part of a large-scale military operation against ISIS sites.

The commander of U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) stated in a statement: "We will relentlessly pursue the terrorists who seek to harm Americans and our partners throughout the region."

The extensive U.S. strikes, part of Operation "Eagle Eye," targeted dozens of sites in central Syria, affecting areas in the Badiyah, Deir ez-Zor, Raqqa, and Homs.

More than 100 precision munitions were used during the operation, amid expectations that the operation will last for several weeks, possibly a month, according to U.S. officials.

The Jordanian Air Force also participated in supporting the strikes using fighter jets in support of the operation against the organization.

Late yesterday (Friday), U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth announced the launch of a military operation against ISIS in Syria in response to an attack in Palmyra that killed three Americans.

Hegseth stated in a post on the platform "X": "U.S. forces have begun Operation 'Eagle Eye' in Syria to eliminate ISIS fighters, infrastructure, and weapons storage sites, in direct response to the attack on American forces on December 13."

U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed that ISIS is facing a "very severe retaliatory response" in Syria from American forces.

Trump wrote on his social network "Truth Social" shortly after the Pentagon announced the launch of the military operation in Syria, "I announce here that the United States is taking very strong retaliatory action, as promised, against the murderous terrorists responsible for the attack," adding, "We are delivering very strong blows against ISIS strongholds in Syria."

Later, Trump stated that the operation named "Eagle Eye" was very successful.

He added in a speech to his supporters in North Carolina on Saturday, "We hit every target with absolute precision."

Trump emphasized that he has "achieved peace in the Middle East," adding, "We have peace in the region for the first time in 3,000 years."

He further stated that his country is bringing peace to several areas around the world through strength.

These strikes came in "retaliation" for the killing of American soldiers last Saturday during an operation carried out by a Syrian security element belonging to ISIS, who was expected to be dismissed from service according to Syrian authorities at the time. Two American soldiers and a civilian translator were killed last Saturday in the city of Palmyra in central Syria by an attacker targeting a convoy of American and Syrian forces before being shot by the U.S. military. Three other American soldiers were injured in the attack.

The U.S.-led coalition has conducted airstrikes and ground operations in Syria targeting those suspected of belonging to ISIS in recent months, often in coordination with Syrian security forces.
