Health Ministry: Seasonal flu cases remain within usual annual rates
SadaNews - The Ministry of Health confirmed that it is closely and continuously monitoring the developments of seasonal flu in neighboring countries, and is taking necessary preventive measures according to the epidemiological situation in Palestine, stressing that the current health situation remains within the usual annual rates and does not warrant concern.
The ministry explained that the cases being recorded during this period fall within the framework of the usual seasonal flu and do not constitute a cause for concern, emphasizing that most infections are mild to moderate and recover spontaneously with rest and appropriate treatment.
The ministry noted in a press statement issued this Friday evening that seasonal flu typically increases with changing seasons, urging citizens to adhere to health preventive guidelines, particularly regarding personal hygiene, regular hand washing, ventilating closed spaces, and avoiding direct contact if symptoms appear.
Moreover, the ministry added that the currently circulating strain of the seasonal flu virus is a well-known strain and is not associated with an increase in the severity of symptoms or the seriousness of the illness compared to previous years, assuring that the established and known preventive measures are sufficient to limit the spread of the virus.
The Ministry of Health emphasized the importance of monitoring health conditions among the most susceptible groups to complications, especially children, school students, the elderly, and patients with chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart diseases, and respiratory illnesses.
The ministry stressed the necessity of visiting the nearest health center or hospital if symptoms persist or worsen, such as prolonged fever, difficulty breathing, or severe fatigue, to ensure receiving the necessary medical care in a timely manner.
It also called on parents and educational authorities to monitor the health condition of students and not to send them to school if they exhibit any symptoms of illness, to preserve their health and the health of their peers.
The ministry emphasized adherence to preventive guidelines within schools, such as regular hand washing, ventilating classrooms, and promoting healthy behaviors, asserting that these simple measures significantly contribute to reducing the spread of infection and ensuring a safe educational environment.
Finally, the ministry indicated that awareness and adherence to health guidelines are fundamental in reducing the spread of seasonal flu, wishing safety and health for all citizens.
