Netanyahu Announces Historic Gas Deal with Egypt
SadaNews Translation - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced this evening, Wednesday, his approval of the gas deal with Egypt.
Netanyahu stated in a recorded press conference alongside Energy Minister Eli Cohen, that "the value of the deal amounts to 112 billion shekels, making it the largest gas deal in Israel's history." SadaNews also translated.
He indicated that the deal is expected to bring 58 billion shekels into Israel's treasury, promising more good and important news for Israel.
He pointed out that he approved this deal without any security commitments associated with it.
He stated: "During the first four years, we will earn half a billion shekels, and then the annual income will start to rise towards 6 billion shekels annually."
Hebrew Channel 13 reported that the approval of the deal came under significant American pressure.
It is speculated that this is related to reaching an agreement to hold a summit between Netanyahu and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi at the end of this month in the United States.
