Trump Pushes for a Triangular Summit to Resolve Gaza's Path
SadaNews - Political and diplomatic preparations are accelerating as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's visit to the United States approaches, at a time when U.S. President Donald Trump is pushing for a triangular meeting that would include himself, Netanyahu, and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. This move comes as part of American efforts to rearrange the scene in Gaza and push the parties toward the next phase of the U.S. plan.
Israeli Channel 13 reported that a senior Israeli official stated that Tel Aviv does not oppose holding the meeting, explaining that the discussion will focus on progress in the next phase of the agreement in Gaza, as well as developments related to the Iranian file.
According to the channel, a crucial meeting will be held on Thursday at Netanyahu's house to discuss the second phase of Trump's plan, where the Israeli army will present two scenarios: either continue to implement the American plan or return to military operations.
In the past few days, the Israeli security establishment has been asked to prepare alternatives for the next steps in Gaza, whether by resuming fighting or moving to the next phase of the plan that Trump announced over the past two weeks. The security establishment is expected to present Netanyahu with operational options in case it is decided to resume fighting, especially if the government does not agree to deploy a multinational force tasked with disarming Hamas.
Conversely, a plan will also be proposed to implement parts of the American initiative, including fully opening the Rafah crossing, allowing international parties to address the remnants of the war, and starting the reconstruction process in the Gaza Strip. Trump also resumed discussions in recent days about what he called the "World Peace Council," which is supposed to manage Gaza after the war, affirming that he will reveal its members at the beginning of 2026, indicating that prominent international leaders wish to join it.
