Report: A Catastrophic Reality Escalating for Prisoners Inside Occupation Prisons

SadaNews - The Palestinian Authority for Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Affairs confirmed that its legal teams were able, in recent days, to visit a number of Palestinian prisoners in occupation prisons, including "Ofer, Damon, Gilboa, and Etzion" prisons, as part of their ongoing monitoring of the deteriorating detention conditions.

During the visits, the prisoners conveyed shocking testimonies about the catastrophic reality they are living in, asserting that prison conditions have reached lethal levels of oppression and systematic abuse, where they continue to suffer from severe shortages of food, clothing, and hygiene supplies, in addition to the ongoing deprivation of necessary medical treatment and care.

The prisoners also reported widespread prevalence of skin, respiratory, and gastrointestinal diseases in various sections, amid deliberate medical negligence and lack of health monitoring, which poses a real threat to their lives, especially for the sick and elderly, with increasing concerns about the worsening health conditions and their transition into critical situations.

The prisoners confirmed that they are subjected to continuous physical and psychological assaults, including beatings, violent searches, collective punishments, and solitary confinement, in addition to severe overcrowding in the rooms, where a large number of prisoners are held in cramped spaces lacking the minimum requirements for humane living.

The authority emphasized that what is happening inside occupation prisons constitutes a blatant violation of all international laws and charters, foremost among them the Geneva Conventions, considering that the policy of medical negligence and systematic abuse amounts to an ongoing crime against the prisoners.
