The Council of Ministers Calls for Accelerating International Response for Urgent Relief in the Gaza Strip
SadaNews - Prime Minister Dr. Muhammad Mustafa directed various government institutions to intensify their interventions, especially in targeted areas, to ensure the provision of as much as possible of the citizens' needs, in light of available priorities and resources, and in a manner that ensures equitable support and organizes these interventions.
Moreover, the Council of Ministers, during its weekly meeting today, Tuesday, called for accelerating the international response for urgent relief in the Gaza Strip and enhancing international pressure to allow the entry of winter supplies and economic recovery requirements, foremost among them are mobile homes, medical supplies, and needs for repairing water networks and basic infrastructure.

The council also welcomed the adoption by the United Nations General Assembly of two resolutions affirming the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, particularly their right to self-determination and their permanent sovereignty over their land and natural resources, calling for these resolutions to be translated into practical international steps to halt settlement expansion, the rising attacks by settlers and operations of demolishing homes and facilities, and to protect the two-state solution that enjoys broad international support and is affirmed by international legitimacy resolutions.
Additionally, the council directed the competent authorities to assess the needs of Bedouin communities that are facing escalating attacks from settler gangs, particularly to continue providing resilience reinforcements, such as fodder and agricultural inputs, alongside the financial allocations provided by the government and its partners to compensate families that are targeted.
The Council of Ministers also approved the extension of health insurance coverage for patients and their companions from the southern governorates, as well as the allocations provided by the Ministry of Finance to beneficiaries for an additional three months.
It also approved the allocation of government lands in Nablus and Qabatiya for the benefit of the Palestinian Energy Authority and the Palestinian Electricity Transmission Company, to establish government projects for renewable energy.

Furthermore, the Council of Ministers approved the staffing table for the year 2025, which includes various administrative entitlements for civil service employees, including gradual steps to stabilize contract employees starting with the first phase, which includes 500 employees based on efficiency and actual need criteria. Additionally, it approved specific employment requests in light of the policy of rationalization to the minimum, to meet the urgent needs of vital sectors, specifically the health and education sectors.
In this context, the Council of Ministers congratulated our people on the occasion of the glorious Christmas and the New Year, wishing that the coming year would bring peace to our people by freeing them from occupation.
In the same context, it was affirmed that Thursday, December 25, 2025, would be a public holiday on the occasion of Christmas according to the Western calendar, and that Thursday, January 1, 2026, would also be a public holiday in Palestine on the occasion of the New Year, as well as Wednesday, January 7, 2026, which will be a public holiday on the occasion of Christmas according to the Eastern calendar.
