10 Dead in Shooting During Hanukkah Celebrations in Australia (Video)
SadaNews: Australian media reported that 10 people were killed and dozens injured in a shooting during the Jewish "Hanukkah" celebrations at the famous "Bondi" beach area near Sydney, Australia.
Immediately following the incident, Australian authorities announced a large-scale security operation in Sydney, and later the Australian police announced the arrest of two individuals.
The New South Wales Police stated in a statement that their forces are dealing with an "ongoing security operation" in the vicinity of the beach.
The police urged the public to avoid the area to ensure their safety and to allow specialized teams to deal with the "incident that is still ongoing."
In this context, the Israeli Ministry of Diaspora Affairs described the attack as a "bloody terrorist attack," stating that it is in contact with leaders of the Jewish community in Australia following the attack.
Australian television network (ABC) aired footage showing what appears to be a firearm lying on the ground, with police officers assisting people at the scene of the incident.
Videos circulated on the "X" platform also showed people fleeing at Bondi beach, with multiple gunshots and police sirens heard in the background.
On the governmental level, a spokesperson for the Australian Prime Minister confirmed the government's awareness of the "deteriorating security situation" in Bondi.
The spokesperson also urged residents in the vicinity to exercise extreme caution and to obtain information exclusively from official police channels.
