Erdogan: We Have Not Received a Request to Participate in the International Stabilization Force in Gaza
SadaNews - Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated today (Saturday) that Israel must fulfill its promises and fully comply with the ceasefire in Gaza.
The Turkish president added that Israel must allow life in Gaza to return to normal.
He pointed out that his country has not received any proposal or request regarding participation in the stabilization forces in Gaza, affirming its readiness for that.
He indicated that the Peace Council in Gaza must address the security problem caused by Israel, adding: "Turkey will never shy away from its responsibilities."
For his part, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated that Israel has practiced ethnic cleansing in many Palestinian cities.
Fidan emphasized -during statements in Istanbul- that Turkey is working to stop the Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip; noting that his country has played an active role with mediators to reach this agreement.
An accord was reached between Israel and "Hamas" regarding President Donald Trump's peace plan during meetings in Sharm El-Sheikh, and the agreement came into effect in October.
Discussions are ongoing to advance the next phase of President Trump's plan to end the ongoing conflict in Gaza for two years.
The plan calls for a temporary technocratic Palestinian administration in the sector, overseen by an international "Peace Council", supported by a multinational security force. The negotiations concerning the formation and mandate of this force have proven to be difficult.
