President: The second phase of Trump's plan must be implemented to ensure the surrender of Hamas weapons

SadaNews - Today, Friday, President Mahmoud Abbas met in the Italian capital, Rome, with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

The president praised the Italian Prime Minister's efforts to enhance bilateral relations, emphasizing the historical and renewed connections that bind the two countries and their friendly peoples, and expressing gratitude to Italy for providing humanitarian assistance to our people in the Gaza Strip, treating injured children, training the Palestinian police, and participating in the European monitoring force at the Rafah crossing.

The president reviewed the latest developments on the Palestinian scene, the ongoing efforts to establish a ceasefire, and to facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip. He confirmed the implementation of the second phase of President Trump's plan, which ensures the surrender of weapons from Hamas and other armed factions, the existence of a legitimate single Palestinian police force, the Israeli withdrawal from the Strip, and the full assumption of responsibilities by the State of Palestine in Gaza, and moving forward with reconstruction, while emphasizing the prevention of displacement, the necessity of achieving a comprehensive calm in the West Bank to stop settlement activities and annexation attempts, to halt settler terrorism, the release of withheld Palestinian funds, and to stop attacks on religiously sacred sites for both Muslims and Christians.
