SadaNews - Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas met today, Wednesday, in the Spanish capital Madrid, with the Prime Minister of Spain Pedro Sánchez.
The President expressed gratitude and appreciation to Spain, its government, and its people for their courageous positions in support of the Palestinian people and their just cause in international forums, including the international coalition and the New York conference, and for rallying international support for further recognition of the State of Palestine and for providing humanitarian aid and support for building the institutions of the State of Palestine.
The President and the Prime Minister of Spain discussed the efforts made to solidify the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, and to implement the second phase of President Trump's plan, including the assumption of the responsibilities of governance and security by the State of Palestine, according to the principle of one state, one law, and one legitimate weapon, as well as the complete Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip and moving towards reconstruction.
President Abbas informed the Prime Minister of Spain about the Israeli escalation in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, the ongoing settlement activity, settler terrorism, assaults on Christian and Islamic holy sites, and the withholding of Palestinian tax funds, urging the international community to pressure Israel to stop these serious violations aimed at undermining our national institutions and the two-state solution.
President Mahmoud Abbas reaffirmed the full commitment to all the reforms that the State of Palestine has pledged to implement.
