Tents of Displaced Persons in Gaza Flooded with the First Hours of the Deep Atmospheric Depression
SadaNews: With the onset of the deep atmospheric depression hitting Palestine, the Gaza Strip witnessed tragic scenes at dawn on Wednesday as rainwater flooded the tents of the displaced, highlighting the fragility of the temporary structures designated for their shelter under harsh humanitarian conditions.
The spokesman for the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), Hazem Qassem, warned of the consequences of the new weather system, asserting that the current tents are unfit to withstand the rain or the winter's cold, especially amid the ongoing restrictions on fuel imports. He explained that the catastrophic humanitarian conditions in the sector necessitate the launch of an urgent relief operation and the provision of real and suitable shelters by all concerned parties.
Qassem emphasized the need to make the occupation adhere to the humanitarian relief protocols outlined in the agreement of January 2025, which was reaffirmed in the agreement of October 2025.
He added that the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip continue to face ongoing extermination through the continuation of the blockade, the prevention of suitable shelter materials, the restriction of humanitarian aid, and the closure of crossings, which places the international community before its urgent moral and political responsibilities towards civilians.
