European Statement: Seizing UN Property is a Gross Violation of Agreements

SadaNews - The diplomatic missions in Jerusalem and Ramallah affiliated with the European Union stated that the forced raid on UNRWA premises in East Jerusalem, which resulted in the seizure of property, cut communications, and replaced the United Nations flag with the Israeli flag, constitutes a gross violation of the UN's privileges and immunities agreement.

The joint statement issued by the EU diplomatic missions in Jerusalem and Ramallah and countries including France, Germany, Finland, Denmark, the Netherlands, Lithuania, Poland, Slovenia, Greece, Cyprus, Austria, Sweden, Switzerland, Belgium, Ireland, Portugal, and Spain, emphasized that such actions create a dangerous precedent for entirely ignoring international law, including the Geneva Conventions, which provide legal protection for organizations carrying out vital tasks under international humanitarian law.

It continued: Israel must comply with its obligations under the UN's privileges and immunities agreement, which ensures the inviolability of UN premises and their protection from violation.
