The Occupation Completes the Demolition of a House in Silwan, South of Al-Aqsa Mosque
SadaNews - The Israeli occupation forces completed today, Tuesday, the demolition of a house in the town of Silwan, south of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The Wadi Hilweh Information Center reported that the municipality crews of the occupation completed the demolition of the house of Jerusalemite Moussa Badran in the Bustan neighborhood of Silwan, south of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Citizen Badran had started to demolish his house himself about a month ago to avoid hefty financial fines.
The house is located in an area that is under continuous pressure from the occupation authorities, which issue demolition orders repeatedly under the pretext of building without a permit, while Jerusalemites face great difficulties in obtaining building permits within the occupied city of Jerusalem.
The demolition of Badran's house comes in the context of a rise in demolition operations carried out by the occupation authorities in Jerusalem during this year, with statistics indicating that more than 93 buildings have been demolished in the city by the end of May, including 53 houses. Other reports showed that more than 623 houses and facilities have been destroyed in the West Bank, including Jerusalem, since the beginning of this year, as part of a campaign aimed at displacing Palestinians and imposing Israeli control.
The house demolitions in the Bustan neighborhood constitute a continuation of the policy of population cleansing and pressure on Palestinian citizens, affirming that these measures exacerbate their daily suffering and worsen the housing crisis in the holy city.
