President: The second phase includes the Palestinian police and security taking responsibility in Gaza
SadaNews - President Mahmoud Abbas received a phone call from Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev during which they discussed the latest political developments and the situation in Palestine, especially in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank including East Jerusalem, and ways to achieve peace according to international legitimacy.
The President expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the phone call from President Tokayev, praising the brotherly relations between the two countries and peoples.
The President commended Kazakhstan's political positions supporting the legitimate Palestinian rights to freedom and independence, and its endorsement of peace according to international legitimacy and international law, rejecting settlement, annexation, and displacement policies. He expressed the appreciation of the Palestinian people and their leadership for the important humanitarian support provided by Kazakhstan to the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
The President informed his Kazakh counterpart of the constants of the official Palestinian position, which emphasizes the necessity of completely stopping the war, the full Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, the State of Palestine assuming its administrative and security responsibilities in the sector, and the commencement of the second phase of U.S. President Donald Trump's plan, which we welcomed in order to end the war and achieve lasting peace. He affirmed that the second phase includes the Palestinian police and security taking responsibility and establishing the principle of a single state connected between the West Bank, Gaza, and East Jerusalem with one law and one legitimate weapon, and the withdrawal of Israeli occupying forces from the Gaza Strip, rejecting any form of division, and beginning the phase of recovery, reconstruction, and prevention of displacement.
The President also updated President Tokayev on the difficult conditions faced by our Palestinian people in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, including continuous incursions by occupying forces, assaults on Palestinian cities, villages, and camps, the continuation of settlement, annexation, and expansion policies to seize Palestinian land, providing protection and support for settler terrorism, and the ongoing withholding of Palestinian funds. He called for international intervention to compel the occupying state to stop its unilateral policies, end settler terrorism, and release the withheld Palestinian funds.
The President indicated the ongoing work with our brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump, and all mediators and partners within a coordinated international framework that guarantees an end to the war and moves towards implementing the two-state solution according to international legitimacy and ending the occupation, as an entrance to achieving comprehensive peace in the region.
He thanked his Kazakh counterpart for his important message supporting Palestinian rights, confirming Kazakhstan's principled positions supporting the achievement of peace and stability in the region based on international legitimacy and international law.
