Trump criticizes Zelensky for ignoring his peace plan (Video)
SadaNews - US President Donald Trump said he felt "somewhat disappointed" with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for not engaging in advancing the proposed peace plan to end the war with Russia.
Trump told reporters in response to a question during an annual awards ceremony held by the Kennedy Center, as SadaNews translated: "I am disappointed because Zelensky has not even read our proposal to end the war until just a few hours ago. His people like it, but he does not. Russia is satisfied with the agreement, but I am not sure about Zelensky's satisfaction with it."
Discussions between US and Ukrainian officials ended on Saturday after several days and included Zelensky via phone without achieving any clear progress, despite the Ukrainian president's commitment to conduct further talks to reach a "real peace" and end the Russian-Ukrainian war.
The talks came after US envoys Stephen Whitkov and Jared Kushner met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Kremlin, where Moscow rejected parts of the US peace proposal.
The US plan has undergone several modifications since it was first presented last November, amid criticism mainly from European leaders that it is too lenient towards Russia, which invaded Ukraine in February 2022.
