The Occupation Attempts to Impose a New Reality by Paving the Streets of Tulkarem and Nur Shams Camps

SadaNews - The Israeli occupation forces continue their aggression against the city of Tulkarem and its camps for the 312th consecutive day, and against Nur Shams camp for the 299th day, amid escalating demolition, leveling, incursions, and arrests.

Since the morning hours, the occupation forces have transferred special equipment including bulldozers, rollers, and trucks loaded with black asphalt, to pave the streets they have cut within the camps, in an attempt to impose them as a fait accompli after completing the paving work.

 

During the past month, the occupation forces sent in large military reinforcements, and began operations to level and pave roads as part of a policy aimed at ending the camps and transforming them into neighborhoods attached to the city, while preventing any reconstruction of the demolished houses, resulting in the military operation so far demolishing around 1,440 houses.

In Nur Shams camp east of Tulkarem, the aggression continues for the thirteenth consecutive week, and the camp has witnessed explosions and heavy gunfire coinciding with a new incursion accompanied by military bulldozers, forcing families to evacuate their homes in the slaughterhouse neighborhood. Displaced children continue to express their longing to return to their homes and schools, which they have been deprived of for ten months.

The ongoing escalation has led to the forcible displacement of more than 5,000 families, totaling over 25,000 citizens, and comprehensive destruction affecting more than 1,440 houses entirely and 2,573 partially, in addition to the closure of the entrances to the camps and turning them into almost life-free zones.

Thus far, the aggression has resulted in the martyrdom of 14 citizens, including a child and two women, one of whom was in her eighth month of pregnancy, in addition to dozens of injuries and arrests, and widespread destruction of infrastructure, commercial shops, and vehicles.
