Government Operations Room: Aid to Gaza Remains Dangerously Low

SadaNews: The Government Operations Room issued an official update today regarding the humanitarian aid entering the Gaza Strip, confirming that the volume of this aid remains dangerously low and does not meet the minimum of the increasing humanitarian needs in the sector.

The average amount of aid entering over the past weeks has been around 287 trucks per day only, while the sector needs at least 1,000 trucks daily to cover the minimum basic needs. Data from the Operations Room indicates that the total number of trucks that entered the sector from October 1 to November 29 through the Kerem Shalom crossing and the Zikim and Kisufim gates reached 17,259 trucks, following a long interruption that lasted for several months.

The data clarifies that about 41% of the entering trucks are commercial trucks carrying mostly luxury goods, rather than essential relief or food materials that the residents urgently need. This reality exacerbates the humanitarian crisis in the sector, as there is a continuing sharp decline in food, water, medicine, and shelter materials, forcing families to face daily harsh tests of resilience against cold, hunger, and disease.

In this context, the Government Operations Room reiterates its call for the international community, the United Nations, its agencies, and international organizations to take immediate action and pressure the occupation to open all land crossings without restrictions, and to allow humanitarian aid to enter safely and regularly. The room also emphasizes that providing a stable and secure environment is a fundamental condition to enable UN, international, and local institutions to implement necessary relief interventions and to expand the humanitarian response in the sector.
