Document Reveals "Netanyahu's Plan" to Solidify Settlement in the West Bank
SadaNews - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed his support for dozens of agricultural outposts managed by settlers in the West Bank during a high-level meeting this month, even as he issued directives to security officials to expand efforts to curb violence from extremist settlers, according to an internal government document obtained by Yedioth Ahronoth.
The document titled "Summary of the Prime Minister's Discussion on Awareness Tools to Address Youth Violence on the Hilltops in Judea and Samaria (the West Bank)" shows that Netanyahu supports the continued construction of outposts that are not officially licensed but receive government support and are promoted by right-wing ministers as a means to prevent Palestinian development in area C, which constitutes 60 percent of the West Bank under full Israeli control," according to the newspaper.
The outposts, often referred to as farms, are illegal in terms of their structure, but most of the grazing lands they use are designated for them by the Civil Administration.
The Israeli government has been working for years to formalize them in a manner similar to family agricultural farms in the Galilee and Negev.
