New Assault by Settlers Disrupts Water Well No. 6 in Ein Samiya East of Ramallah
SadaNews - Settlers assaulted water facilities again this evening, Sunday, in the Ein Samiya area east of Kafr Malik, targeting water well No. '6', which led to a complete halt in pumping from the well that constitutes a primary source of water for Palestinian communities east of Ramallah.
The Jerusalem District Water Authority stated in a release that the repeated assaults on the Ein Samiya wells threaten the water security of about 19 residential communities that primarily rely on these sources to meet their daily needs. They renewed their call for urgent action and pressure on the occupation authorities to stop the repeated targeting of water resources in the area.
The Authority confirmed that its teams have been working since the evening to repair the damage and restore the operation of the well in coordination with the relevant authorities to ensure the resumption of water pumping as soon as possible and to mitigate the impact of the disruption on the residents.
It is noted that the Ein Samiya wells have been subjected to a series of assaults by settlers in the recent past, including the destruction of surveillance cameras and tampering with vital equipment.
Ein Samiya is considered one of the most important sources of groundwater in the East Ramallah area, with a total production capacity of about 12,000 cubic meters per day, representing 17% of the daily amounts supplied by the Jerusalem District Water Authority.
