He added that Merz is scheduled to meet with Netanyahu on December 7 to discuss bilateral relations, the ceasefire in Gaza, and other international issues.
Germany has long been one of Israel's staunchest supporters, but it has also criticized Netanyahu's government for its strategy in the Gaza war.
This month, the German government took steps to resume arms sales that it had suspended to Israel since August due to the war; however, it stated that the decision is contingent upon adherence to the ceasefire and the provision of humanitarian aid on a large scale.
