Israeli Forces Enter Quneitra Countryside, South Syria and Set Up Checkpoint
SadaNews: Israeli forces have once again infiltrated the northern countryside of Quneitra in southern Syria.
An Israeli force consisting of three vehicles entered today, Wednesday, the area located between the villages of Al-Ajraf and Um Battinah in the northern Quneitra countryside, and established a checkpoint before withdrawing from the area, according to the SANA news agency.
Since the fall of the previous Syrian regime, Israel has continued to violate the disengagement agreement of 1974, by advancing southward, conducting raids, arrests, destroying properties, and bulldozing agricultural land.
Previous rounds of negotiations between Israel and Syria have not led to an agreement that would reduce tensions between the two sides, despite Damascus previously affirming that the talks were positive and had made significant progress.
The U.S. special envoy to Syria, Tom Bass, also previously indicated that Damascus and Tel Aviv are getting closer to reaching a "de-escalation" agreement, under which Israel would halt its attacks, while Syria would agree not to move any machinery or heavy equipment near the Israeli border.
